Finn Balor advocates for WWE to work with other companies. The reigning NXT Champion believes this will help wrestling as a whole.
During Wrestling’s early days, Wrestlers would travel from town to town and wrestler for any promoter that would book them. Exclusive contracts did not exist until the creation of Wrestlemania. That was when Vince McMahon began tying his wrestlers to long term contracts.

Many other companies have since followed suit but they still allow for exchange of talents. AEW for example are working with several other promotions such as Impact Wrestling and NJPW. NXT Champion Finn Balor wants the WWE to follow in the footsteps of AEW and allow for cross promotional events.
Finn Balor advocates for WWE to work with other companies
“I know there’s a lot of cross-brand work going on, which is something I’ve been an advocate for years,” Finn Balor told Bleacher Report. “I don’t feel like we should be limited to what our contract says or what company we work for.
Balor said that he was all for an open border policy and believes that it will benefit wrestling as a whole.
“I feel like wrestling on the whole can be better if we all worked together,” he continued. “So if that means me going to Japan or me going to Europe or me going to Mexico, I’m down to do that. I’m all for the open-border policy, not just between countries, but companies as well.”
Considering WWE’s hesitance to bring up or even mention the existence of wrestling outside of the WWE it is unlikely they will ever pay heed to Balor’s request. However, it is refreshing to see a WWE star speak up on the topic so honestly instead of toeing the company lines or giving out corporately correct answers.
