John Cena to remain in the WWE even after SummerSlam 2021. The Cenation Leader was expected to depart the promotion after his program at SummerSlam.

John Cena’s return had long been speculated before he eventually made his way back. It was reported that he would appear in the promotion and set up a feud with Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam. Cena was expected to leave after.

However, it seems that Cena may stick a little bit longer than the Supercard later next month. The WWE made an announcement on their website today that the Cenation leader would make an appearance at Madison Square Garden in New York City, for the upcoming supershow event for Friday Night SmackDown on FOX.

An excerpt from the WWE website reads:

“You can see 16-time World Champion John Cena when the blue brand returns to The World’s Most Famous Arena on Friday, Sept. 10!

John Cena will be on hand when the top stars of SmackDown and Raw compete in a Supershow at Madison Square Garden.

Don’t miss your opportunity to be part of the action when WWE makes its highly anticipated return to New York City for Friday Night SmackDown, broadcasting live Friday, Sept. 10, on FOX at 8/7 C.”

Cena challenged Reigns for the Universal Champion on both RAW and SmackDown last week. However, the Tribal Chief turned his challenge down and instead accepted Finn  Balor’s instead.

At this moment though, a match between Reigns and Cena is still expected to be the main event of SummerSlam 2021.

SummerSlam 2021 will take place on August 21, 2021, at Allegiant Stadium in the Las Vegas suburb of Paradise, Nevada. It will be the 34th event under the SummerSlam chronology. It will also be the first to take place on a Saturday since the 1992 event; although it will be the first to air live on a Saturday.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
