Pat McAfee comments on whether he’ll continue wrestling beyond NXT TakeOver: WarGames. The former NFL Punter has been a breath of fresh air.
Pat McAfee has been the unexpected rising star of wrestling this year. The former NFL Punter overdelivered on his debut against Adam Cole. Many believed this was a one-off and according to the man himself, it was supposed to be, however, he hopped right back in when given another opportunity.

“The NXT TakeOver XXX match was supposed to be a one-off,” McAfee told The New York Post ahead of today’s NXT TakeOver: WarGames. “Afterwards I kind of did a little self eval and tried to figure out if this was something I want to continue to pursue and if the opportunity popped up what would I say. I think it was an overwhelming, resounding, yes.”

McAfee has proven to be a natural on the mic since his return and has received praises from several quarters including CM Punk who called him the best promo on the Gold and Black brand. He has excelled at everything asked off him so far.
The logical thing to do would be to keep him around for a lengthy amount of time and see what programs you can create around the man. McAfee however, isn’t sure what the future holds for him. Although he kept reiterating his love for NXT, bar the Undisputed Era, understandably of course.
“You know Joe, I’m not 100 percent sure,” McAfee answered. “I don’t know what the future holds. I love NXT. I’m very thankful for the amount of trust they’ve put in me for a lot of different things so quickly. Obviously, the Undisputed Era is a terrible group of humans, but I enjoy the humans at NXT. I don’t think that conversation’s even been had. I’m just focused on what’s going on right now and let that conversation happen whenever it happens and cross that bridge whenever it comes.”
McAfee will lead a team of Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan and Danny Birch. They will go against Undisputed Era in a Wargames match at tonight’s NXT TakeOver: WarGames.
