Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt

Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt: Who is the heel in their Wrestlemania 37 fued? The two have been feuding with each other since TLC last year.

Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt was heavily panned back in 2017. The two have since had the chance to make amends and while there are some who aren’t big fans of the much, the general consensus has been far more favorable than it was four years back.

It also helps that the two have heavily altered their character since the last time they feuded. Orton is no longer a sneaky hero looking to do things the right way. He is more Legend Killer meets Apex Predator. Wyatt on the other hand has had a much bigger shift. He is now an otherworldly creature hellbent on vengeance.

Interestingly, none of them are outright virtuous. The WWE loves to book straightforward stories. There is a clear bad guy and a clear good guy. In this case however, both characters are gray even if they tend to lean more towards the dark side.

While this does make for complex stories, Wrestlemania 37 is scheduled to have an audience; the first WWE event in over a year to do so. That begs the question, who do the WWE want the fans to boo come Wrestlemania?

Who is the heel in Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt?

While you would think that a man fighting for his life against a supernatural entity with god like powers would likely have to be face, it appears that Orton is indeed the heel in this feud. ThunderDome regular Xylot Themes, revealed that while there was no clear indication on the alignment of the stars involved during Fastlane, fans were asked by the WWE to boo Orton on RAW.

“I have the audio from Fastlane & RAW this week, and the host said nothing during that segment at the PPV. On Raw this week the host wanted “Big Boos for Randy Orton”, and nothing until the show went off the air. I hope this helped.”

An interesting choice by the WWE. Wyatt has previously shown glimpses of being a face as the Fiend, especially during his feud with Braun Strowman. However, this is perhaps the first time the WWE have outright indicated his portrayal as a face.

It is fitting though, if the WWE truly go there, that it took someone like Orton to turn an actual monster face.
