Tony Khan says AEW is open to working with the WWE

Tony Khan says AEW is open to working with the WWE. The young promotion is already working with several other wrestling companies.

Kenny Omega shocked the wrestling world when he took the AEW World Championship to Impact Wrestling. They had previously worked with AAA and the NWA but no one saw this coming. Just when fans got a little used to the partnership, Kenta from NJPW knocked the forbidden door establishing a relationship between both promotions.

While it may seem that AEW have their hands full with partnerships, AEW’s CEO and Founder Tony Khan is open to yet another. During his appearance on the WrestleFetish podcast, Khan revealed that he is open to working with WWE so long as they knock on their doors.

“They are more than welcome,” Khan said regarding WWE. “As I have said, the forbidden door is open anytime. Just come and knock. If they were to knock on the door, then I would certainly be willing to let them in.”

Pretty sure fans would throw their wallets at the possibility of a Shield Reunion or to see Kenny Omega square up with a Drew McIntyre or AJ Styles. Maybe even an Elite vs New Day! The possibilities are endless, the likelihood of it happening however, is close to nought.

WWE prefer to exist in their own bubble. To them, wrestling does not exist beyond them. There are the occasional mentions of other wrestling promotions. However, they only do so to take a jab at them (I heard TNA is hiring) or when it benefits them (He was the IWGP Champion, same as Brock Lesnar).

It’s a fool’s errand to say never when it comes to wrestling. There may come a day when AEW and WWE join hands. For now, fans can enjoy their existing partnerships with NWA, TNA and NJPW.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
