WWE NXT may shift to a new day: AEW vs NXT Wednesday Night Wars for the ratings may finally come to an end by the close of 2021.
Many wrestling fans today were quite young to experience the Monday Night Wars. Through AEW and NXT however, the fans are able to witness what it was like to live in an era of promotions warring for superior ratings and viewership.

The competition, one would say, forces both promotions to play their best card at all times. It also makes for interesting conversations when their favourite show takes the win on a particular week. That however may end soon with some big changes taking place in the world of television.
WWE NXT may shift to a new day
NBCUniversal have said that it will shut down their sports network by the end of the year. All of their live sports telecast will shift to USA Network and to a lesser extent, nascent streaming service Peacock. USA will now house NHL and NASCAR, which will mean a reshuffling of their programming lineup.
“At the conclusion of 2021, we have decided that the best strategic next step for our Sports Group and the entire Company is to wind down NBCSN completely, with key elements of NBCSN’s programming moving to USA Network and, in some cases, Peacock for 2022 and beyond,” NBC’s memo detailed.
“This will make USA Network an extraordinarily powerful platform in the media marketplace, and gives our sports programming a significant audience boost. We believe that the power of this offering is the best long-term strategy for our Sports Group, our partners, and our Company.”
While it has not been reported yet, the NHL moving from NBC to USA will surely knock the wrestling program to another day. The NHL coverage is on every weekend and NXT takes place on the same day at 8:00 PM EST. If either one of the two moves, it will definitely be the Black and Gold brand effectively ending the ratings war with Dynamite on TNT.
