WWE has made a strong move to enter the Indian market over the last few years. It all began when they decided to sign a mega deal with TV broadcaster Ten Sports for around ten years.
Then they started putting up a Hindi tv show on their official YouTube page in order to get more fans from India on board. The response was great and the number of subscriptions for the WWE network were enormous from India.
The WWE then decided to host a live event in New Delhi in January 2016. The event was a tremendous success as the company realized the potential in a market that they have not really penetrated.

Jinder Mahal’s rise from mid card obscurity to WWE Champion was a sure signal that company was firmly behind this expansion.
Now there will be another WWE Live Event in December this year, as the WWE looks to bring Jinder Mahal to his homeland as the champion.
A few months ago it was reported that Kavita Devi was signed by the WWE on a development deal. After impressing in the Mae Young classic tournament, Devi has now been officially signed by the company.
Devi is the first Indian women wrestler to enter the WWE and will most likely start in NXT. She was trained by former WWE superstar, the Great Khali.
If all goes well, Devi might make her debut in the main roster in no time.
This is what Mahal had to say about Devi,
“I’m extremely proud to welcome Kavita to WWE where she now has a great opportunity to become India’s first female WWE Superstar. She is an inspiration to the youth of India and I wish nothing but success for her,” said Mahal.
