2021 F1 cars will be shorter

A lot of work is being done on the 2021 F1 car, one that could bring about a paradigm shift in the sport.

The concept car came out a few weeks back during the Singapore GP and according to reports in AMuS, a few more specifications about the car have been revealed.

The wheelbase has been shortened for sure, with 3.4 metres being the upper limit. Thus, the cars would be 20-30 centimetres shorter than what they are presently.

The cars are scheduled to become more compact and this could happen only if the width of the side boxes between the rear wheels was brought down.

With respect to fuel and power, there are going to be significant changes too.

The 1,000 hp mark is certain to come down. The flow rate will also be increased to 110 kilograms per hour.

Now, this would lead to the maximum power of the engine to go up from 10500 to 12000/min.

“That gives a better sound. The frequency gets higher, the volume fuller, because more energy is produced.” Mercedes engine chief said.

The teams will in all likelihood take just 120 kg of fuel on board as reported by AMuS.

“First, because you can only inject limited gasoline, and second, because the car should not be too heavy at take-off,” added the Mercedes engine chief.

“What works well on the aerodynamic side of wind tunnel use also makes sense with the engine if we find a sensible way to reduce costs.” Toto Wolff has explained.

How do you like the 2021 proposed car?
