“He will not join us for Liverpool”: Thomas Tuchel Reveals Thiago Silva Will Miss Tie Against Liverpool

The CB has become an integral part of Chelsea’s backline since joining the club last year

When Chelsea had decided to indulge in Thiago Silva’s services, many had questioned the London club’s desire. With Silva nearing the tailend of his career, ardent viewers of the game were doubtful of Silva’s ability to adapt with the speed of the Premier League.

After initial teething issues, Silva grew into his own to show why Chelsea had reposed faith in his services. The Brazilian CB took no time in settling into his groove, taking to the league like a fish takes to water.

An instrumental part of Chelsea’s backline now, Silva’s importance has grown owing to Thomas Tuchel’s arrival. With both the parties having worked together previously at Chelsea, Silva is crucial to ensuring Tuchel’s modus operandi is executed on the pitch.

Silva Interested In Signing New Chelsea Deal

Its seen Chelsea move quickly to tie Silva up to an additional year at the club. Silva recently commented on his aspirations to play till he was 40 as he also went onto praise the work Tuchel was doing at Chelsea.

“I hope to continue like this,” Silva said, with Chelsea having the option to automatically trigger a one-year extension to his contract.

“I want to continue to play at this level and get to the World Cup in 2022.

‘I’m looking at the example of Maldini, who played until he was 40 years old. ‘I spent six months with him and it was extraordinary. I hope to follow in Maldini’s path.”

“Thomas Tuchel is doing an amazing job here at Chelsea,” Silva added.

Silva currently has only featured in one of Chelsea’s last nine Premier League outing. A thigh injury kept him out of action for a good amount of time previously before the CB was given his marching orders against West Brom upon his return.

The Brazilian will be looking to remind everyone of his calibre at the earliest plausible. Chelsea meanwhile managed to squirm through to the semi-finals of the Champions League where they’ll be taking on Real Madrid.
