Manchester United Transfer News: Red Devils set to pursue Bruno Fernandes once again in the January transfer window.
Manchester United were said to be interested in bringing Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes in the summer. In the end, the move failed to materialise and Fernandes stayed put at the Portuguese club. United have once again been linked with several players in the January transfer window. However, it appears that the Portugal international is on their radar once again.

United’s primary target in the January transfer window seemed to be Erling Haaland. However, the teenager chose to move to Borussia Dortmund instead, forcing the club to go back to the drawing board. The Red Devils have been linked with Leicester City’s James Maddison, Wolverhampton’s Raul Jiminez and a few others. However, with the club finding it difficult to prise the players out mid-season, they are now considering going back in Bruno Fernandes according to Goal.com.
Twice as expensive
However, Fernandes, signed a new contract with Sporting in November which saw his release clause increased to €100 million. This means that Manchester United will have to fork twice as much as the club were asking in the summer if they intend to bring him to Old Trafford.
The report adds that United have not yet made any contact with the club. However, if given the green signal by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the club will find no difficulty raising the funds required to complete the transfer. Although, it remains to be seen if Fernandes will want to make the switch. Especially after recently speaking on the prospect of joining Tottenham and how close they were to signing him in the summer.
