3 Players which RCB should buy

3 Players which RCB should buy: Sportsrush presents before you the names of players which RCB should buy in IPL Auction.

Despite releasing only six players and buying one in the trading window, Royal Challengers Bangalore will be one of the few franchises to go all-out in the auction for they currently have a total of 14 players in their squad.

To everyone’s surprise, one of the most dominating batting line-ups on paper over the years, RCB only comprise of a couple of batsmen in captain Virat Kohli and legendary batsman AB de Villiers at this point in time.

Among the other batting options that they have are wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel and the overseas all-rounder duo of Moeen Ali and Marcus Stoinis. Will Stoinis likely to be in the Australian squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, he might not be a part of the full tournament.

In such a scenario, RCB would be looking to spend their limited purse of INR 18.5 crore judiciously to the extent that they cover all bases during the auction.

3 Players which RCB should buy in IPL 2019 Auction

1)  An overseas opening batsman – In the absence of Quinton de Kock and Brendon McCullum, Royal Challengers would be looking to buy an explosive overseas opening batsman. A batting order which comprises of Kohli and de Villiers at No. 3 and 4 respectively, having someone explosive at the top of the order is a must.

Possible Options – Martin Guptill, Alex Hales, Jason Roy, Joe Root, Hashim Amla.

There can be two ways to look at this – a) RCB can look to buy tried and tested batsmen like Hashim Amla and Joe Root and give them the responsibility of anchoring the innings, b) On the other hand, they can look to buy someone of the genre of Martin Guptill, Alex Hales or Jason Roy, all of whom can dominate the proceedings from the word go.

Given the nature of the format, one expects them to go for the second option.

2) A middle-order batsman – It is a facet of the game which RCB have always struggled with. Despite possessing some of the biggest name in the game in the recent years, they somehow failed to make an impact with their middle-order.

Having released Mandeep Singh and all-rounders like Corey Anderson and Colin de Grandhomme, the dearth in their midde-order will be felt all the more until and unless they opt for a reliable middle-order batsman.

Possible Options – Shimron Hetmyer, Jonny Bairstow, Heinrich Klaasen.

All the three names have it in them to make an impression in RCB’s middle-order. While Hetmyer had proved his mettle in the recently concluded Windies’ tour of India, Bairstow has been an epitome of consistency across formats since the last year or so.

South Africa’s Klaasen, who represented Rajasthan Royals in the last season can also be someone who can attack during the slog overs. With a capability to play against the spinners, he might just make the nod ahead of other batsmen.

3) A fast bowling all-rounder – It is imperative for RCB to buy a fast-bowling all-rounder, someone who has it in him to perform the dual responsibility. As mentioned above, this category is all the more vital for them now as they require a cover for Stoinis.

Possible options – Jason Holder, Moises Henriques, Thisara Perera.

Much like Hetmyer, Holder had also raised his stakes with his performance against India. Windies’ captain might well be an apt pick for RCB during this auction.

The others include experience names such as Henriques and Perera, both of whom can play the big shots and contribute with the ball as well.
