Bhuvneshwar Kumar injury: India fast bowler was seen walking off the ground amidst his first spell against Pakistan at Manchester.

During the 22nd match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between India and Pakistan at Old Trafford, India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar injured his hamstring to walk off the ground.

Bowling his third over, Bhuvneshwar landed awkwardly after bowling the fourth delivery of the over. After feeling the initial discomfort, the right-arm fast bowler eventually decided to leave the ground.

In what came as a huge blow for India, it was more like a blessing in disguise for them. Vijay Shankar, who was included in the team as Shikhar Dhawan’s replacement, was given the ball to complete the over.

Bowling his first ever World Cup delivery, Shankar found Pakistan opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq (7) wanting in front of the stumps. The all-rounder making early inroads came as a colossal relief for India as it was vital to take an early wicket to keep the opposition on the back foot.

Talking of Bhuvneshwar, the Indian team management have made public the update that he has “tightness in his left hamstring” and will take no further part in the match. Indian team will be hoping for him to recover quickly for they can’t afford to lose another senior player in a tournament like this.
