Ahead of the all-important and much talked about India-Pakistan clash during the ongoing Asia Cup in UAE, Pakistan’s speedster Hasan Ali has expressed his views on former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Ali revealed that dismissing Dhoni in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 last year was one of the most cherished moments in his international career and that he is all prepared to bowl against Dhoni on the day after tomorrow.
Speaking in a chat to Cricbuzz, Ali was quoted, “The last time I took three wickets in the Champions Trophy final, my favorite was MS Dhoni’s wicket. I am looking forward to bowling against him again.”
Ali has a Yo-Yo score of 19.1 which is even better than the regular Indian captain Virat Kohli, someone who is considered one of the fittest athlete in the game.
On being asked about what motivated him to prepare and do so well in the Yo-Yo Test, Ali said, “Look I play all three formats and fitness is important to perform consistently at a certain level. That’s the reason why I have been focusing on my fitness.”
Having made his ODI debut against Ireland at Dublin in 2016, Ali has went on to become one of the Pakistan’s top players in the limited-overs game. In the 34 ODIs that he has played so far, Ali has 70 wickets under his belt which have come at an average of 20.55, a strike rate of 5.15 and a strike rate of 23.9.
Given the manner in which he is working on his fitness, one can understands that Ali doesn’t want to become just another fast bowler for Pakistan, someone who starts well but then doesn’t cope up with the pressures of international cricket. Him bowling against not just Dhoni but the likes of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan up the order is expected to be an interesting battle.
