Brian Lara hospitalised in Mumbai after severe chest pain complaints
West Indies ex-cricketer, Brian Lara hospitalised in Mumbai after complaining of chest pains
Cricket expert and ex-West Indies cricketer, Brian Lara has been hospitalised after he complained of severe pain in his chest. The cricketer was immediately rushed to the Global Hospital in Mumbai with the hospital set to report a statement soon on Lara’s condition as per reports by ANI.
Although no official report or statement has yet been made by the hospital or doctors, as per reports emerging, tests have currently been conducted on the cricketer. The Global Hospital has as of now performed an angiography of Lara but refrained from going for an angioplasty with the current condition not warranting the same. Full precautions are being taken though with the cricketer having lost his father due to a heart attack which further quells risk of Lara suffering a heart disease as well.
Was presently roped in by the Star Sports network
Lara is currently in India for the Star Sports network which has roped him in as a cricket expert for the ongoing ODI Cricket World. He regularly features on their Select Dugout feature, one he has been a part of ever since the IPL. He’s one of the several slew of international star performers the channel has brought in as part of their channel along with Brett Lee and Scott Styris among others.
This is not the first time that he has had to face trouble with health related issues with the cricketer having been hospitalised way back in 2002 during the ICC Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka due to Hepatitis. Although he was unwell, the batsman had decided to go on and play against Kenya, a match he went onto score a 100 in.
Lara who retired in 2007 from international cricket is considered as one of the finest batsmen to have emerged from the country, retiring as the highest test run getter at that time. Although his record was subsequently breached by Sachin Tendulkar, Lara is spoken in the same breath as some of the most exceptional batsmen in the international circuit.
Lara has 10,405 runs in ODIs which include 19 centuries and 63 half-centuries at an average of 40.17 and 11,953 runs at an average of 52.89 in test cricket. As of now he is a cricket expert and is seen voicing his opinion on several platforms.
