WATCH: Virat Kohli urges Eden Gardens crowd to ‘Cheer Up’
It is one of the Test matches that saw both India and Sri Lanka equally had a go at each other so far with the end result to come. Given the route map, India are fighting and the momentum is shifting slightly towards the hosts.
India were skittled out for a paltry 172 by the all-round Lankan bowling attack. Cheteshwar Pujara’s lone fifty gave India something to cheer for in the 1st innings.
Apart from that, Lankans stole the show with the bat as well as with the ball. Lakmal was in fierce bowling mode who picked up 4 wickets to his cap.

With dual fifties from Lahiru Thirimanne and Angelo Mathews, Sri Lanka were far from being impressive. Thanks to Bhuvneshwar and Shami’s four-wicket hauls.
Indian players knew that they were trailing by 122 runs. They approached the game with grit and determination and posted a remarkable 352/8 declared.
Lokesh Rahul’s impressive 79, Shikhar Dhawan’s stellar 94 and Virat Kohli’s belligerent 104 helped India to get into the scheme of things. Sri Lanka were given a target of 231.
In reply to India’s target, Sri Lanka struggled to get going as Indians were spot on with their bowling line and lengths. Bhuvneshwar Kumar mastered once again as he picked two quick wickets followed by Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav’s one wicket each.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli urged Eden Gardens crowd to raise their intensity and up the ante in the gallery. As soon as Kohli signalled, the audience got cheered up!

Sri Lanka already almost half of the wickets and are working hard towards defending the wickets. India, on the other hand, need six good deliveries to win the match.
