Abdul Razzaq cites Mohammad Shami’s religion as reason for his good performance vs England while expresses doubts over other players’ intent
Team India’s 31-run loss vs England at Edgbaston on Sunday faced widespread criticisms by fans and other experts. Team’s ordinary performance with the ball as well as their batting,- especially during the first and the third powerplays were the prime reasons for disappointment and animosity of the people.

On the flip side, it was also heartbreaking especially for the Pakistan fans who were backing India to win in order to bolster their chances to qualify for the semis.
However, it seems that our beloved neighbours, especially the former players and experts have still not been able to gulp down India’s loss and are stooping as low as possible to bring in arguments that have no place in the realm of sports.
To do the honours is Pakistan’s former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, who cites Mohammad Shami’s religion for his superb bowling performance against England.
Razzaq plays the religion card
It is worth mentioning that Mohammad Shami exhibited a brilliant spell of fast bowling versus England returning with figures of 10-1-69-5. In fact, since Bhuvaneshwar Kumar’s hamstring injury against Pakistan, he has picked up 13 wickets in the three matches so far.
But, Abdul Razzaq comes up with perhaps the most ugliest statement one could ever make on the passion and hard work a player exhibits while playing whole-heartedly for his/her nation.
During an interaction with Pakistan’s prominent news channel Geo TV, the 39-year-old opined that India’s major strike bowlers viz. Jasprit Bumrah and the two wrist spinners- Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav did not bowl with the intent of a win against England at Edgbaston. As per him, is was unacceptable that the World’s no.1 fast bowler went wicketless.
On the other hand, he hailed Shami’s performance and credited the same to the fact that he is a ‘musalman’ (Muslim), and therefore gave his best. He further opined that him being a ‘musalman’ was good news for Pakistan, and the duo of Kuldeep and Chahal deliberately bowled the flighted deliveries to assist the English batsmen to hit them easily for maximums.

Don’t understand why religion has to be mentioned when looking at the performance of the Indian bowling attack #CWC19 🙄 pic.twitter.com/A3INMEEBP7
