Krunal Pandya declares MS Dhoni: The all-rounder was vocal about the senior Indian cricketers in MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

India all-rounder Krunal Pandya believes playing for Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians was the “turning point” in his career. Speaking in an interview uploaded on the official website of BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), Pandya admitted to IPL bringing a “different pressure”.

“The biggest turning point for me was representing Mumbai Indians as that is place from where I was able to show my ability. The amount of pressure when you are playing in IPL is different and eventually when you went on to win the trophy, it gives you a satisfaction that finally all the hard work of 2.5 months has finally paid off,” Pandya was quoted as saying.

Having made his IPL debut in 2016, Pandya has dismissed 40 batsmen in 55 matches at an average of 28.20, an economy rate of 7.16 and a strike rate of 23.60. With the bat in hand, the southpaw has scored 891 runs at an average of 26.20 and a strike rate of 146.06.

Pandya, who made his T20I debut in the home series against West Indies last year, has impressed so far in his 11-match T20I career. Part of the Indian squad for the tour of West Indies, Pandya is likely to feature in all the three T20Is.

Speaking about former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni and captain Virat Kohli, Pandya was was lyrical about both the cricketers and expressed his intentions of learning a lot from the senior duo.

“For Mahi [MS Dhoni] bhai, there is no better finisher than him, not just in Indian cricket but in world cricket. Both Mahi bhai and Virat [Kohli] have the patience and the way they play according to the situations is what stands out.

I would like to learn how he [Kohli] keeps the hunger going and he manages to stay so consistent. Like how in every match and in every format he starts from zero and always scores to help the team get over the line,” Pandya said.
