India and Pakistan players to play together as Bangladesh is all set to host two T20Is between World XI and Asia XI next year in March

If everything goes as envisaged, Indian and Pakistan national team players might well play for each other in the same team against Cricketers from the rest of the World next year in the month of March.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan confirmed on Wednesday (July 24), that they will host two T20s between Asian all-star XI and World XI next year to celebrate the 100th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The dates of the two T20Is have also been finalised. The matches will take place between March 18 and March 21, as informed by the BCB president. Thus, players from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Hosts Bangladesh will join hands to face the World XI.

“The dates of the matches have been finalized. The matches will take place between March 18 and March 21 in Mirpur. We have not contacted anyone yet, but players from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will take part alongside the Bangladesh cricketers in Asia XI,” said Nazmul.

Both matches to be granted International status

As per Nazmul, all the boards of other countries have agreed to the proposal put forward by him and have decided that the matches will get an International status.

“One good thing that happened is that all the other boards have supported this proposal and it has been decided that the match will get international status”, BCB president said.

Nazmul also however stated that, he would also have to keep in consideration that there might be teams and their respective players who would be involved in the FTP (Future Tours Program) series at that time. Yet, he would make sure that the best team out of the available players feature in the T20Is.

“We will have to discount players from teams who will have FTP (Future Tours Program) series in that time. We will make the best possible teams from the available players”, he added.
