Gareth Bale: Real Madrid Superstar set to join Chinese Super League side while his wife and children will stay back at Wales.

Gareth Bale arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu as the then costliest player in the world. He was greeted with much fanfare and many thought he would one day replace Cristiano Ronaldo as the fulcrum of the side. Reality however, has been very different.

Despite winning a multitude of trophies, including four champions league trophies, his time at the Spanish Capital has been termed disappointing by many. Plagued by loss of form and injuries, Bale hasn’t quite hit the heights he looked destined for. So much so that manager Zinedine Zidane is determined to see him off his players list.

Zidane openly spoke of his desire to see Bale leave going on to say that if the departure came the next day itself, it would be good for everyone. Naturally the comment was met with a lot of criticism with Bale’s manager calling Zidane a disgrace. However, it looks like Zidane will finally get his way.

China Calling

It was earlier reported that Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning had put in an offer for Real Madrid outcast Gareth Bale. The Welshman will reportedly pocket a salary of around £1m-per-week. There has been no official announcement yet but Daily Mirror have reported that Bale will sign the contract and move to China alone. His family will in their £4m mansion in Wales.

“It’s a big decision,” a relative said. “But Gareth’s the wrong side of 30 now so has to make the most of the next few years.

Explaining why Bale’s family will not travel with him, the relative said:

“It’s a sacrifice they’re prepared to make for £1million a week.

“After all, they never really settled in Spain so they’d have no chance in China.”

“It’d be too much of a culture shock to move to China with three young children,”

“They didn’t learn Spanish so I can’t see Gareth having Mandarin lessons any time soon.

“And he’s not much of a fan of Chinese food – even when he’s home.”

Bale was reportedly looking for a return to the premier league but no club matched his £600,000-a-week Real Madrid pay. Many would consider Bale’s time at the Spanish capital a failure. The numbers however, paint a different picture. Apart from 13 trophies he racked up at Spain, he has also scored a whopping 102 times in 231 appearances for the club across his six-season spell.
