Chelsea News: Frank Lampard ready to let midfield duo leave despite transfer ban
Chelsea News: Frank Lampard ready to let midfield duo leave despite transfer ban. The new manager feels that the squad needs to be trimmed.
Chelsea are currently banned from buying any player for the next two transfer windows. Meaning that the London side can’t make any addition to their squad until the next season. However, that hasn’t stopped new manager Frank Lampard from trimming his squad.

Following their pre-season tour of Japan, Lampard has concluded that he has no requirement for midfielders Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko. According to Dailymail, the pair have been told that they are not a part of the club’s plans going forward and have been told that they are free to leave.
The west Londoners were able to convert Mateo Kovacic’s loan into a permanent deal earlier this month, while they have also retained the services of midfielders N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who Lampard believes are all better than the £75million pair.

Danny Drinkwater joined Chelsea in 2017 for £35million. However, since then, he has only played 23 times for Chelsea. His only appearance last season was against Manchester City in the Community Shield last August. Bakayoko, joined the blues from Monaco the same summer as Drinkwater in a deal worth £40m. He was loaned out to AC Milan last season after struggling in the Premier League though.
