WATCH: Virat Kohli gets massive reprieve as bails don’t fall despite ball hitting stumps off Oshane Thomas
Virat Kohli gets massive reprieve: The Indian captain rode on his luck during the third T20I against West Indies in Guyana.
During the third T20I of the ongoing India’s tour of West Indies at Province Stadium in Guyana, India captain Virat Kohli was fortunate enough as the bails didn’t fall while he was batting despite an Oshane Thomas delivery hitting the stumps.
It all happened on the first delivery of the 18th over when Kohli inside edged a Thomas delivery on to his shoes. With a much reduced pace, the ball rolled backwards to hit the stumps. It isn’t the first time that the same has happened this year. The incident of bowlers getting deprived of wickets has been seen on several occasions lately.
Talking about the match, India defeated West Indies by 7 wickets to whitewash the opposition 3-0 in the three-match series. Chasing a 147-run target, India lost a couple of wickets in both opening batsmen. While Shikhar Dhawan (3) got out in the second over, Lokesh Rahul (20) soon followed him up in the fifth over.
It was a 106-run partnership for the third wicket between captain Virat Kohli and wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant which saw India seal the chase in the last over. While Pant (65*) top-scored with his second T20I half-century, it was Kohli who laid the foundation for the southpaw to finish the match.
Kohli, who came in to bat at No. 3 in the third over, ended up scoring 59 (45) with the help of six fours. On the other hand, Pant scored 65* (42) with the help of four fours and four sixes.

#INDvWI @RishabhPant17 finally gets his much awaited 2nd T20I fifty of 37 balls. INDIA need 18 from last 3 overs TO WIN.
And next over #OshaneThomas York’s his 1st Ball, kohli takes all the pace off it but it rolls and touches the stumps. Not enough power to get the bails off.— SPNDistribution (@SPNDistribution) August 6, 2019
Rishabh Pant becomes the first Indian batsman to register two T20I fifties before the age of 22 years!#IndvWI#IndvsWI#WIvInd
