Virat Kohli opens up on India’s team combination for ICC T20 World Cup 2020
Virat Kohli opens up on India’s team combination: The Indian captain talked about rookie players getting opportunities in T20Is.
During the third T20I of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Bengaluru, South Africa beat India by 9 wickets to draw level the series 1-1. In what was a comprehensive victory, the visitors sealed a 135-run chase in the 17th over.
After India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat to put his team in an uncomfortable zone, the Indian batsmen were nowhere near their best. Wickets falling at regular intervals sucked momentum out of the Indian innings from the word go.

Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, Kohli defended his decision of batting first. Furthermore, he also hinted at India making unfamiliar decisions to test their skill in difficult situations. “Exactly what we wanted to do and [on batting first] that’s going to be the template we’ll follow for games we have before the World Cup.
“The mindset has to be flexible and to try out things when situations are stacked against us. We will have games like this where we don’t execute what we want. But as long as the intent is there to improve, we’ll be in a good zone,” Kohli was quoted as saying.

“The squad composition we’ll try to get right as soon as we can. The guys who have done well in the domestic circuit are getting opportunities, so it’s not like we are playing random people.
“You have to understand as well that it’s a very young side, you have to give them time as a team to come together. We batted till 9 tonight, and that’s one area we’re looking to strengthen,” Kohli said.
