Will MS Dhoni play for Jharkhand: Jharkhand have recently announced their squad for the upcoming domestic tournament.

The aura of former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni is such that every new day sees some speculation or the other with respect to his retirement from international cricket.

People have started to anticipate the news to such an extent that one of India captain Virat Kohli’s tweet acted as fuel to fire in such a manner that MSK Prasad and Sakshi Dhoni had to issue clarifications regarding Dhoni’s retirement.

What has further made people believe that Dhoni will make the announcement soon is the report of him making himself unavailable for the T20I series against Bangladesh at home in November.

Amidst all the rumours is another news of Jharkhand announcing their squad for the imminent Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20. The 16-member squad will be led by fast bowler Varun Aaron and doesn’t comprise the 38-year old Dhoni.

Dhoni, who had opted to skip the tournament last year as well, was severely criticized by former Indian cricketers in Sunil Gavaskar and Gautam Gambhir for not taking part in India’s premier domestic 50-over competition.

Having last played for India during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, it remains unknown whether Dhoni will play for India in the future or not. Having almost opted out of the Bangladesh series, Dhoni will now have a chance to play the five-match ODI series against West Indies in Decemeber.

Jharkhand will play their first match on September 25 against Mumbai in Bengaluru.
