Ravinderpal Singh and Hamza Tariq involved in hilarious mix-up: The Canadian duo ended up at the same end against Denmark.
During the 12th match of the ongoing CWC Challenge League between Canada and Denmark in Kuala Lampur, Canad batsmen Ravinderpal Singh and Hamza Tariq were involved in hilarious mix-up which resulted in the dismissal of the latter.
It all happened on the first delivery of the 46th over when Tariq hit a Delawar Khan delivery towards the sweeper cover fielder. Expressing his desire to run a couple of runs, Tariq returned back to the striker’s end only to find that his partner was also standing there.
With Jonas Henriksen throwing the ball back to Danish wicket-keeper Abdul Hashmi, the latter himself ran towards the non-striker’s end to run-out the batsman. The Canadian pair was then seen quarreling with each other at the striker’s end.
Coming in to bat at No. 7 in the 41st over, Canadian wicket-keeper batsman Tariq ended up scoring 22 (15) with the help of three fours.
After Canada captain Nitish Kumar won the toss and chose to bat, his team scored an impressive 302/8 in their allotted quota of 50 overs. Having scored 84 (80) with the help of 12 fours after coming in to bat at No. 4 in the 12th over, Srimantha Wijeyratne top-scored for Canada.
Chasing a 221-run target in 33 overs, Denmark ended up scoring 172/9 and lost by 48 runs (D/L Method). Barring a 101-run partnership between captain Hamid Shah (52) and batsman Zameer Shah (60), all other Danish batsmen failed to get going. The Canadian spinners in Saad Bin Zafar and Nikhil Dutta picked three wickets each.
