Bayern Munich claims to not allow it players to serve Germany if Neuer gets replaced as a first choice goalkeeper in the national team.

There is an intense competition between Manuel Neuer and Marc Andre Ter Stegen for the spot of the first choice goalkeeper in the German national team.

It is getting tougher by every day for Joachim Low to come at a conclusion, as Neuer is kind of a leader figure to the team, and there is hardly any other senior player, who could lead the team like him.

At the same time, Ter Stegen is among the best keepers in the world with his current form, and possibly in his best years. Thus, there is a pressure at Low to replace Neuer considering he has been subject to high profile errors.

Thus, amidst the recent controversy, Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness in an interaction with Bild has claimed that Bavarian club will stop allowing their players to join the German national side if Neuer is replaced by Ter Stegen.

“We would never accept that [Ter Stegen replacing Neuer as No.1],” he told Bild. “[If Bayern are informed of the change] before it happens, we won’t send any players to the national team anymore.” said Uli Hoeness.

Thus, a rather shocking statement by Hoeness, but Bayern Munich could face sanctions running from fines to exclusion from competitions for depriving the national team of players.

Meanwhile, German coach has promised to give more chances to Stegen in 2019, but the Barcelona keeper has only made 1 appearance so far.

Because of this controversy there was an exchange of words between the two players in media, and have led to making in headlines. With Euro 2020 getting closer, Germany has to make its decision over this crisis in the team.
