WATCH: Rohit Sharma abuses Cheteshwar Pujara after he refuses a single in 1st Test vs South Africa
Rohit Sharma abuses Cheteshwar Pujara: The Indian opening batsman was seen using cuss words against his non-striker.
During the fourth day of the first Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Visakhapatnam, India opening batsman Rohit Sharma was heard abusing non-striker Cheteshwar Pujara on the stump mic.
It all happened on the second delivery of the 26th over when Sharma guided a Dane Piedt delivery towards cover point. Having expressed interest in running a single, Sharma had to run back to his crease after Pujara refused the same.
“Puji [Cheteshwar Pujara], bhaag behanc**d,” Sharma was heard on the stump mic. Sharma’s words came more as a frustration of India not scoring at a brisk run rate in a situation when they were required to do so.
Pujara, who came in to bat at No. 3 in the ninth over, took his usual time to get his eye in. After the over in which the aforementioned incident happened, Pujara had scored 8* (61). While there was nothing wrong in his innings, the situation demanded him to bat quickly to give India a better chance of winning the match.
Call it whatever you want to, but Pujara was soon seen to be among the boundaries starting with hitting Piedt for two fours in his next over. In the next two overs bowled by South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj, Pujara hit him for four overs before eventually hitting Piedt for a six over deep mid-wicket.

How Twitter reacted:
It’s that kind of day in Indian cricket. 9 years ago VVS lost his cool at Ojha. Today it was Rohit with Pujara. Long live, Ben Stokes!

Before Rohit Sharma abused, Cheteshwar Pujara was batting on 6 runs of 60 balls.
After Rohit Sharma’s abusing, Cheteshwar Pujara hits 7 fours and 1 six. 🤣🙏#INDvSA pic.twitter.com/5Sp07EhYU6

Rohit Sharma said “bhaag bhench*d” to Pujara. Which means Rohit is a secret admirer of Virat Kohli. Which means there is no rift between the two.

Chill guys, Rohit and Pujara are teammates since 2006 u-19 worldcup. They must have that kind of understanding. I’m pretty sure pujara won’t take that ‘abuse’ seriously. #INDvSA
