BCCI President Name 2019: Sourav Ganguly set to be the president of BCCI after much contention from Brijesh Patel for the post.
BCCI was set to choose its new President, and various reports now claim that Sourav Ganguly is on the edge of beating Brijesh Patel, as the latter was also tipped to be selected ahead of Ganguly a few hours ago.
After a dramatic turn of events, it is now claimed that Ganguly is likely to be the new President of the Indian cricketing board. Meanwhile, Brijesh Patel appeared to have grabbed the coveted post.
Also, Jay Shah, the on of Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been selected as the secretary of the BCCI. while Arun Dhumal will be the new treasurer. Dhumal is the younger brother of MoS Finance and former BCCI president Anurag Thakur.
Monday is the last day to file nomination but no election will be held since all candidates have emerged unopposed after weeks of lobbying and hectic parleys.
the 47-year-old Ganguly is currently (CAB) will have to leave his post by September 2020, as he will go under the compulsory cooling off period.
Brijesh, backed by Tamil Nadu strongman N Srinivasan, emerged Presidential candidate when Ganguly remained non-committal on campaigning for the BJP in the 2021 state assembly elections.
“Yes, Brijesh was running for the President’s post with N Srinivasan actively lobbying for him. However, there was stiff resistance against him. We are happy Sourav is the new President,” a senior official from North East affiliated unit, told PTI.
The choice of the President was always between Brijesh and Ganguly, and the latter is reportedly accepted as the unanimous choice. This will end a 33-month term of the Committee of Administrators, which called shots in running the cricket affairs in the country post Lodha Committee reforms.
