India’s Next World Cup Qualifier Match: Where will India play against Afghanistan in the next World Cup 2022 qualifier match.

India played their World Cup qualifier match against Bangladesh in the current international break fixture. India is in the group along with Bangladesh, Oman, Qatar and Afghanistan, and needs to qualify to the further round to remain in the qualifiers.

So far, India’s chances are getting slim, as they lost the first match against Oman at home by 2-1. Although, they had a miraculous draw against Qatar but the point gained against them is not enough.

Now, the Blue Tigers had a draw against Bangladesh as Adil Khan’s thumping header equalized the score in the final minutes, and India escaped an upset. Thus, India stands at the 4th place in the table with 2 points in 3 matches.

India will next face Afghanistan and Oman in the next international break exactly a month later. India will first face Afghanistan away, but considering the current political discourse in Afghanistan, it is unlikely that the match will happen over there.

Although, Afghanistan’s official home stadium is Ghazi stadium but due to security reasons, recent matches are not happening over there. Hence, in the last home game for Afghanistan against Bangladesh was played at Central Republican Stadium in Tajikistan.

Therefore, it can be assumed that Afghanistan will host India at the same venue next month with Afghanistan set to host their long South Asian rivals. Before hosting Bangladesh, Afghanistan has also played at this ground.

Meanwhile, it is going to be a tough ride for India for the upcoming two matches for the World Cup qualifier, as India will face both Afghanistan and Oman away. Oman has always been a tough opponent for India and it has a poor record at away games against Oman.
