Mohammed Shami dismisses Mushfiqur Rahim: The Indian fast bowler bowled an exceptional spell before tea on Day 1.
During the first day of the first Test of the ongoing Bangladesh’s tour of India in Indore, India fast bowler Mohammed Shami bowled an absolute jaffa to dismiss Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim.
It all happened on the penultimate delivery of the 54th over when Shami bowled a soaring in-swinging delivery which proved to be too good for Rahim. Having left three deliveries in the over, Rahim probably didn’t expect Shami to bowl the in-swinger.
What made matters worse for the 32-year old batsman was him attempting to play the ball down to third-man than defending it with a straight bat. In the end, Rahim was too late to make contact with the ball and had to walk back to the scoring after scoring 43 (105) with the help of four fours and a six.
Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 18th over, Rahim stitched a 68-run partnership for the fourth wicket alongside captain Mominul Haque (37).
While it appeared that Rahim would take Bangladesh to a respectable total, his wicket was followed by Shami founding Bangladesh spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz wanting in front of the stumps. The double-blow over saw the visitors getting reduced to 140/7 at tea.
On the first ball after tea, India fast bowler Ishant Sharma dismissed Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Liton Das (21) to further jostle the opposition.
