Lionel Messi bags the Ballon d’Or award after 4 years which brings his tally to 6 awards. The Argentine international was the favourite to win this award after he amassed 46 goals and 17 assists.
But amidst all of this, as Didier Drogba- the host of the even announced Messi’s name, the crowd cheered for the 32-year-old forward. Meanwhile, 2 people who stood out in the crowd were Messi’s own kids.
Thiago Messi and Matteo Messi gave a hilarious reaction as soon as they saw their father being given the award. The younger sibling, Mateo was even more enthusiastic and even hit his elder brother while hugging him in excitement.

Messi’s children have recently been in highlight due to their candid moments which are usually adored by fans. Especially, Matteo, who was earlier caught celebrating Real Betis’ goal against Barcelona.
Moreover, Messi has also revealed that his younger son likes to tease him whenever his side loses a match. Messi’s family was even shown while France Football magazine presented the short clip to tribute Messi after his sixth Ballon d’Or victory.
In the video, Antonella Roccuzzo was seen with her three sons- Thiago, Matteo and Ciro Messi. Indeed, it was a unique and heartfelt way of honouring the Ballon d’Or winner.
On the other side, Messi gave a speech about his sixth Ballon d’Or win and thanked his teammates, friends and family. Meanwhile, Virgil Van Dijk was also asked about him coming second in the award ceremony.
T which, the dutch defender replied that it was an honour to reach till here and also praised the capabilities of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi while speaking.
