Mohinder Amarnath expresses concern over ‘hard to return from back injury’ for Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya
Amarnath expresses concerns for Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya: The former Indian batsman wished to be proved wrong.
Former India batsman Mohinder Amarnath has recently been vocal about Indian players picking and choosing bilateral tournaments.
Considering it to be an “unhealthy trend”, Amarnath penned his thoughts about the same sending a wrong message to domestic players. Writing in his column for The Times of India, Amarnath also praised the available wicket-keeping options for India.

“It would be an unhealthy trend to start, particularly when there are hundreds of cricketers across India who are toiling in domestic cricket. This would send a wrong message about merit and hard work to them. Wriddhiman Saha, Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson are all very competent,” Amarnath wrote in his column.

Amarnath further expressed concerns about the injuries to fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Hardik Pandya. With both Bumrah and Pandya out with back injuries, Amarnath hoped of being wrong and wished well for the duo.
“The only concern I have is for the injured duo, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya. A back injury is always hard to come back from for a bowler.

“It is either caused by a faulty action or trying for extra pace. I hope I am wrong, but a stressed back can make the return to top pace a long, arduous one. Both these lads are very, very important for the team, and I hope they heal well,” Amarnath added.
While Bumrah last played for India during the Test series in West Indies post the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, Pandya was ruled out after playing the home T20Is against South Africa in September.
