du Plessis gives hilarious reason behind Hardus Viljoen not playing: Paarl Rocks’ captain’s hilarious reply left everyone in splits.

During the 28th match of the ongoing second season of the Mzansi Super League between Paarl Rocks and Nelson Mandela Bay Giants in Paarl, Paarl Rocks captain Faf du Plessis left everyone in splits during the toss on the back of his hilarious explanation behind fast bowler Hardus Viljoen not taking the field today.

“Hardus Viljoen is not playing. He’s lying in bed with my sister. They got married yesterday [laughs],” du Plessis was quoted as saying on being asked about the team changes for this match.

30-year old Viljoen, who plays for Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League, married du Plessis’ sister Remi Rhynners yesterday. In the eight matches that Viljoen has played for Rocks this season, he has dismissed six batsmen at an average of 45.83, an economy rate of 10.24 and a strike rate of 26.8.

It was Bay Giants captain JJ Smuts who won the toss and put the hosts in to bat who scored 168/5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Cameron Delport, who opened the batting with Henry Davids (31), top-scored for Rocks with 39 (22) with the help of nine fours.

With bowling figures of 4-0-14-2, Bay Giants spinner Imran Tahir was the pick of their bowlers. Having picked 16 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 13.50, an economy rate of 5.68 and a strike rate of 14.2, Tahir has also become the highest wicket-taker in the tournament so far.
