WATCH: Niroshan Dickwella’s hilarious reply on being mistaken as Dhananjaya de Silva during presser
Niroshan Dickwella’s hilarious reply: The Sri Lankan wicket-keeper batsman appeared to be in joyous mood in Rawalpindi.
The second day of the first Test of the ongoing Sri Lanka’s tour of Pakistan in Rawalpindi was predominantly lost due to inclement weather conditions at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. With just over 18 overs of possible play, there wasn’t much that happened on the ground.
Having said that, what happened after the stumps will go down as a hilarious incident. Speaking to the reporters in the post-day press conference, Sri Lanka wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella was mistaken as all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva by Pakistani journalists.
“I’m [Niroshan] Dickwella actually. I’m not [Dhananjaya] de Silva. I’m Dickwella [smiles],” Dickwella was quoted as saying when he was mistaken as de Silva for the first time.
While many presumed the confusion to end by now, it wasn’t the case as Dickwella was once again asked about his century which meant that another journalist thought him to be de Silva.
“You mean me? I’m not de Silva. I’m Dickwella. I got out. I’m already out. [On eyeing a century] Maybe second innings, yeah [laughs],” Dickwella added.
Before getting out to Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi in the 85th over, Dickwella ended up scoring 33 (63) with the help of four fours.
It is worth mentioning that de Silva ended Day 2 at 72* (131). Been the pick of the Sri Lankan batsmen in the first innings till now, the 28-year old would be looking to post a handsome total for his team today.

Got to give it to Dickwella for taking it lightly. Didn’t make the reporter feel worse for what was clearly not his brightest moment! #PakvSL https://t.co/WRYmK8zNl6
