Chris Morris fakes mankading to surprise Marcus Stoinis: Thunder’s all-rounder faked catching his Stars’ counterpart outside his crease.
During the 17th match of the ongoing ninth season of the Big Bash League between Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars in Sydney, Sydney Thunder all-rounder faked mankading Melbourne Stars all-rounder Marcus Stoinis to catch him outside his crease.
It all happened on what would have been the fourth delivery of the third over when the ball slipped out of Morris’ hands just before he was about to jump in his bowling action.
Bringing out the funny side of the situation, Morris seemed to have a laugh with non-striker Stoinis as he gestured as if he was about to mankade the batsman.
Chasing a 143-run target for Stars, Stoinis and Nick Larkin stitched a 123-run partnership for the second wicket to lay a solid foundation for their team. While Stoinis scored 58 (51) with the help of four fours and two sixes, Larking top-scored for the visitors with 65 (45) with the help of eight fours and a six.
Morris, who scored 6 (5) after coming in to bat at No. 6 in the 12th over, registered bowling figures of 4-0-24-2 in a losing effort. Apart from Morris, Sydney pacer also bowled well as he dismissed three batsmen for 25 runs in the four over that he bowled.
It was Thunder captain Callum Ferguson who won the toss and chose to bat before his team scored a mediocre 142/7 in 20 overs. With bowling figures of 4-0-24-3, Haris Rauf was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors.
