Who has replaced Rishabh Pant in Rajkot ODI: The Indian wicket-keeper batsman was ruled out after being hit on the helmet in Mumbai ODI.

During the second ODI of the ongoing Australia’s tour of India in Rajkot, Australia have won the toss and chose to field for the second time in the series. Coming on the back of a comprehensive 10-wicket victory in the first ODI, the visitors haven’t made any change to their Playing XI.

“We are going to bowl first. It looks like a beautiful wicket, I don’t think it’s going to change. We had success chasing in the last game, hopefully we can do that today as well. They [the spinners)] controlled their length really well. Same team for us,” Australia captain Aaron Finch was quoted as saying during the toss.

With regular wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant in ruled out of the match after coping a blow on his helmet in the first ODI, India had to make a forced change. It is worth mentioning that the hosts have made an additional change to their bowling department as well.

While makeshift wicket-keeper batsman Lokesh Rahul will keep wickets for India today, batsman Manish Pandey has been given a go ahead of all-rounder Kedar Jadhav as Pant’s replacement in the XI.

“We would’ve bowled first as well. But the good thing is that there’s not much dew factor here. If we put enough runs on the board, we have a good chance of putting the opposition under pressure. You will be beaten comprehensively by sides like Australia at the International level. It’s about understanding what went wrong, not think too much about that game.

“We are going to be more brave than the last game, that’s for sure. Couple of changes. One forced change; Rishabh [Pant] is not playing. He’s still having that concussion assessment going on. KL [Rahul] will keep in place of him and Manish [Pandey] replaces him. And Navdeep Saini replaces Shardul Thakur,” India captain Virat Kohli was quoted as saying during the toss.

Playing with only five bowling options, India would be looking to post a formidable total on the board in a bid to challenge the opposition.
