Parasite director Bong Joon-Ho names Kevin De Bruyne among people he would invite for dream dinner
Parasite director Bong Joon-Ho names Manchester City Kevin De Bruyne among the five personalities he wants to have dinner on a single table.
Parasite outshined every other nominated movie at the Oscars by bagging four awards on a glorious night. It became the first non-English movie to win the ‘Best Movie’ award.
Parasite’s director Bong Joon-Ho couldn’t believe his faith but the night marked him as one of the greatest contemporary directors. However, there is much more to know about the South Korean director.
For instance, he once lied about his father being a fisherman so he could keep a shot in one of his films. And in a Reddit AMA he did pre-Oscars, there are some more surprising tidbits to unearth.
Among a lot of questions about his writing and editing process, advice for independent filmmakers etc, one user asked: “What would be your last supper and which five people would you invite (dead or alive)?”
Four of the dream guests Joon-ho cites probably aren’t that surprising – legendary film directors Alfred Hitchcock and Martin Scorsese, South Korean former Olympic figure skater Yuna Kim, and Jimmy Page from Led Zepellin (his hero growing up).
Perhaps less intuitively, Kevin de Bruyne also makes the cut. Which sparks headlines on several web portals as it gives a scope of an assumption that Bong Joo is a Manchester City fan.
Joon-ho further adds that the guests would be eating lots of Spanish cuisines – paella. Hopefully, that wouldn’t give digestive ailments to De Bruyne or rather others will “Let him talk”.

Manchester City star would be pleased to know that an acclaimed director adds into their list of fans who are prominent personalities. The Premier League’s popularity is growing massively in South Korea.
Especially, ever since Heung Min Son signed for Tottenham Hotspur, there has been an outbreak of Spurs fan in South Korea, many are seen visiting their home games too.
