UEFA plan to settle Champions League and Europa League with a four-team mini tournament
UEFA plan to settle Champions League and Europa League with a four-team mini tournament following the suspension of the season due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The ongoing coronavirus outbreak has bought several major sporting events to a halt. Football too has followed the precedent and several football leagues around Europe have suspended their league to keep the Pandemic at bay.

The UEFA have already called off this week’s all planned European games. They will hold a series of teleconference on Tuesday following which they will confirm their response to the situation. They are also likely to postpone the upcoming EURO 2020. Doing so will provide them with the months of June and July to finish the season; provided, the virus is sufficiently contained.
UEFA plan to settle Champions League and Europa League with a four-team mini tournament
The Sun have reported that should there be a possibility of football in the coming future, the UEFA will look to settle their ongoing Champions League and Europa League with a mini tournament and president Aleksander Ceferin is ready to give the green light to this novel approach.
The Uefa plan foresees the remaining last 16 ties being played as normal once football is allowed to return.
Then quarter-finals will be drawn as one-off games; either with the team drawn first having home advantage or on neutral soil.
The mini-tournament will begin once the four semi-finalists are confirmed.
The four semi-finalists in the Champions League will travel to Istanbul. While the four Europa League sides will head to the final city of Gdansk.
Both tournaments would be played to a finish over four days in successive weeks, with two one-off semi-finals played back to back and the final between the winners.
While far from ideal, the UEFA believe that this method would be most acceptable to the broadcasters and allow for a winner to be announced. However, issues such as whether fans will be allowed in to the venues pertain.
