The postponement had been anticipated for a number of days and it emerged earlier on Tuesday that UEFA had cancelled hotel bookings in Copenhagen, one of the host cities last week.
According to reports, the UEFA are quite keen on all football competitions ending by the end of June 2020. The hope here is that the postponement of their premier continental competition will give the leagues the window to do so.
It remains to be seen if the situation permits for football to resume in the weeks and months to come.
