Ishant Sharma discloses how MS Dhoni was irritated with Ravindra Jadeja in IPL 2019

MS Dhoni was irritated with Ravindra Jadeja: The Indian fast bowler revealed an interesting anecdote from the last season.

During the second qualifier of the 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam, Delhi Capitals pacer Ishant Sharma hit 10 runs off three deliveries off Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Coming in to bat at No. 11 in the last over, Sharma stepped down the track on the penultimate delivery of the last over to hit Jadeja for an eye-catching boundary. A similar shot on the following delivery saw Sharma hit Jadeja for the second six of his IPL career.

Having scored 10* (3), Sharma aided Capitals to score 147/9 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Individual half-centuries from Super Kings opening batsmen in Shane Watson (50) and Faf du Plessis (50) might have won the match for Chennai but Sharma disclosed an interesting anecdote from the match.

Speaking to Gaurav Kapur on his YouTube show Isolation Premier League, Sharma talked about how Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni used to make fun of his batting skills.

“Last year in the IPL, Mahi [MS Dhoni] bhai used to make fun of me that I can’t hit sixes, saying you don’t have that ability. Then came Jaddu [Ravindra Jadeja] and I punished him for a four and then I launched a six. Then I turned my head towards Mahi bhai to see his reaction, who looked irritated with Jaddu,” Sharma was quoted as saying.

Sharma, 31, recovered from an ankle injury to play the first Test of India’s tour of New Zealand in Wellington in February before once again succumbing to the same injury to miss the second Test.
