Steve Smith lauds Virat Kohli; reveals ‘scary thing’ about Indian captain
Steve Smith lauds Virat Kohli: The premier Australian batsman was recently wax lyrical about the Indian captain.
While doubts have been cast over playing the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia this year, India’s tour of Australia which is tentatively scheduled to be played before and after the world event is expected to be conducted with some changes.
Going by premier Australia batsman Steve Smith, the series has it in it to be an “all-time great” series. It is worth mentioning that Smith had missed India’s tour of Australia as he was undergoing a one-year ban at the time.
“There are other couple of Indian bowlers who could probably just get over here as well. Both sides have some quality spinners as well. This series has the making of an all-time great series and I can’t wait for it,” Smith was quoted as saying during Star Sports’ Cricket Connected chat show.

Steve Smith lauds Virat Kohli
Out of Smith’s 31 international outings across formats against India, 29 have come with Kohli on the opposite side. Smith, who is often compared to India captain Virat Kohli with respect to the better contemporary batsman, revealed his first memory of Kohli which had happened way back in 2007.
“I have known Virat Kohli for a long time. Since 2007, I reckon, when he went up to the academy in Brisbane. I actually wasn’t a part of in-take then, but I was kind of up there, doing bowling and stuff.

“He was there, we had some nice chats off the field. We had a couple of run-ins in the early days on the field. Those things happen when you are playing for your team and your emotions sometimes go out of control,” Smith said.
Kohli, who won numerous Australian hearts by standing for Smith during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, earned applauds from Smith who also ended up revealing a “scary” thing about the Indian captain.
“But he’s a terrific guy, he’s done terrific things with India. As an ambassador of the game. He’s getting better and better with each game, which is the scary thing,” Smith added..
