Alexander Volkanovski Vs. Max Holloway 3 is in the purview of Dana White
Alexander Volkanovski is 2-0 up over Max Holloway, yet there are possibilities of a third fight between the two. Certainly when Dana White is behind the idea.
Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway have fought twice during the last 7 months. Both the times the outcome has remained the same. However, the result of their second encounter, which took place at UFC 251, drew polarising views, where many enthusiasts along with some industry eminents were of the view that Holloway was robbed of a deserving victory, by the judges. And then speculations about another encounter between the two professionals begun to come forward.
With several other events looming at that time, and Volkanovski stating that this chapter is now over. The matter was perceived as a passing affair. Until recently, when again the talks of Alexander Volkanovski Vs. Max Holloway 3, picked fuel, after Dana White expressed, he is open to the idea.
What Exactly did Dana White Said?
The president of UFC, in a recent interview with ESPN gave his opinion on another rematch between Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway, and said, “It’s hard to not say we can give Max a rematch for that fight again – do it a third time. I think all of the fans and the media would agree with that. I don’t know for sure.”
White tried to empathize with Volkanovski as well, who would definitely have a contrasting view on this. White said, “I’m sure Volkanovski doesn’t love that idea. He’s like, ‘Listen, I just beat this guy twice. You know?’ And if you’re Volkanovski, you’re like, Guess what? The media aren’t judges. Dana White is not a judge. None of these people are judges. The people that are assigned to judge the fight say I won twice.
So if you’re Volkanovski, I get it. And if you’re Volkanovski, you probably want to take a look at a different guy. I don’t know. I haven’t really talked to Volkanovski about it. It’s something I definitely need to do. We’ll see how this thing plays out.” (Source)
At this stage, it is unclear who will face Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC Featherweight championship. However, Henry Cejudo, former UFC Bantamweight champion, has number of times put forth the idea of coming back from the retirement, only to face Volkanovski.
