Black and White Flag F1: What do these flags signify in Formula 1; Romain Grosjean was shown in the race for an offence.

Formula 1 racing has a set of flags and all the drivers are obligated to adhere to them whenever racing. Moreover, during every race, most of the drivers would be glad to face no flags except the chequered one.

Last time the Sportsrush talked about flags, it discussed the significance of the blue flag. Now, during the British Grand Prix, Romain Grosjean was shown black and white flag.

Now, it raises the points, especially for the new followers of the sport, what is the significance of this flag in the race. Surely, it is something related to reckless driving and Grosjean has earned a name for himself for that.

The Haas driver was involved with Carlos Sainz and Daniel Ricciardo on the track, where the former was seen changing his lanes between the race, granting him black and white flags for the incident with Sainz.

Black and White Flag F1- What do they mean?

According to the Motorsport guide provided by the BBC, it is shown with a car number to indicate a warning for unsportsmanlike behaviour. A black flag may follow if the driver takes no heed of the warning.

If the black flag is given that means the driver must call into the pits immediately, usually because he has broken the rules and will be disqualified.

Therefore, it can be said that a black and white flag can be considered as the yellow card of Formula 1, but a much rare sight in the sport.
