Ben Dunk smashes consecutive sixes to propel St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to maiden CPL 2020 win
Ben Dunk smashes consecutive sixes: Patriots’ batsman made his experience count when it mattered the most today.
During the 11th match of the ongoing eighth season of the Caribbean Premier League between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Barbados Tridents in Port of Spain, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots batsman Ben Dunk smashed two consecutive sixes to propel his team to their maiden victory in the tournament.
Chasing a 152-run target, Patriots required 13 runs to win in the last over being bowled by debutant pacer Nyeem Young. Having missed a delivery after a wide ball, 33-year old Dunk put on display his experience of playing in T20 leagues around the world against a rookie bowler to register victory by hitting two back-to-back sixes.
Dunk might not have scored many runs but him scoring 22 (11) inclusive of one four and two sixes was enough for his team who were put in a winning position by opening batsman Evin Lewis’ 30th T20 half-century.
Opening the batting with Chris Lynn (16), Lewis ended up scoring 89 (60) with the help of two fours and nine sixes to single-handedly turn the tables despite Lynn getting out cheaply.
After Patriots captain Ryad Emrit won the toss and chose to field, Tridents scored a mediocre 151/7 in 20 overs. It was batsman Corey Anderson who scored 31 (19) with the help of three sixes towards the end to post a competitive total. With bowling figures of 4-0-17-2, Patriots’ Jon-Russ Jaggesar was the pick of their bowlers.

Ben Dunk is a criminally underrated T20 player. Not too late for Australia to consider him as a finisher for next year’s World Cup. #CPL20
