Matt Critchley run-out vs Lancashire: Watch Derbyshire all-rounder leads gobsmacking run-out to dismiss Steven Croft
Matt Critchley run-out: Derbyshire’s all-rounder put on display a gobsmacking run-out to dismiss Lancashire’s Steven Croft.
During a North Group match for the ongoing Vitality T20 Blast between Lancashire and Derbyshire in Headingley, Derbyshire all-rounder Matt Critchley produced a one-man effort to put on display a gobsmacking run-out and run-out Lancashire batsman Steven Croft.
It all happened on the first delivery of the 16th over when Lancashire opening batsman Alex Davies steered a Critchley delivery towards the deep mid-wicket region to run a couple of runs.
Having sensed early that the batsman had the opportunity to runs two, Critchely himself made a stunning effort to chase the ball swiftly and throw the ball back just within time to find Croft short of his crease at the non-striker’s end.
Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the seventh over, Croft played well to score 38 (21) with the help of one four and three sixes but couldn’t prevent himself from getting out against a praiseworthy fielding effort from the 24-year old player.
After Lancashire captain Dane Vilas won the toss and opted to bat, Lancashire posted a competitive 178/5 in 20 overs on the back of wicket-keeper batsman Alex Davies’ 10th T20 half-century.
Opening the batting with Keaton Jennings (29), Davies scored a potentially match-winning 82 (56) with the help of five fours and four sixes before getting out in the penultimate over.
Critchley, who dismissed Jennings in the seventh over and bowled a decent spell reading 4-0-30-1. However, it was Edward Barnes who was Derbyshire’s pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-0-27-2.
