“Last game I had zero”- Russell Westbrook addresses costly turnover in 4th quarter during loss to Thunder

Russell Westbrook admits that it is because of him, that Houston lost the ball, “That’s my fault, honestly.” He also pointed out his turnover numbers.

The Houston Rockets lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6 on Monday, 104-100. The talk of the night has been Chris Paul taking over the game late in the 4^th quarter, which included 2 contested 3s.

However, the reason Houston lost this ball game was because of Russell Westbrook’s carelessness with the basketball, especially in the clutch. The 2017 MVP had a total of 7 turnovers in the game, including a crucial one with just 7.6 seconds left in the game.

Russell Westbrook and James Harden acknowledge their combine 12 turnovers

In his postgame interview, Russell Westbrook owned up to the blunder he made, late in the game, “Last game I had 0 and tonight I had 7,” in reference to his turnovers.

While pointing out his turnover statistics, Russ went on to accept his grave mistake during the dying minutes of the game and stressed on the fact that he needed to be better.

Superstar shooting guard James Harden tried to defend Westbrook by pointing out the fact that he too had 5 turnovers. Harden is quoted as saying in his postgame interview, “If we cut those down in half, we give ourselves a better chance.”

Harden on Westbrook’s turnovers: “I had five, so we’ve both gotta be better with the basketball. We had 12 turnovers between us two. If we cut those down in half, we give ourselves a better chance to get better shot opportunities. We’ve all gotta be better and we will.”

Is Russell Westbrook healthy enough to play heavy minutes?

Russell Westbrook returned from injury to play in Game 5 where he did notch 0 turnovers, however, he only had 7 points, shooting 3-13 from the field.

Game 5 and Game 6 have indicated that the 31 year old may not be 100%. Westbrook has been playing under a minutes restriction these past 2 games to prevent any further injuries to his healing quadriceps.

When asked about whether he is feeling healthy, Westbrook simply responded with, “ I don’t know man.”
