Adil Rashid googly: Watch English spinner bamboozles Aaron Finch in Ageas Bowl T20I
Adil Rashid: The English spinner bowled a phenomenal spell yet again to deceive the opposition batsmen in Southampton.
During the third T20I of the ongoing Australia’s tour of England in Southampton, England spinner Adil Rashid continued his top form to bamboozle Australia captain Aaron Finch at a time when England desperately needed a wicket.
It all happened on the fourth delivery of the 11th over when Finch’s attempt to play Rashid inside out saw him missing the ball altogether. With Rashid bowling a googly, the ball went through a huge gap between Finch’s bat and pads to hit the leg-stump.
Opening the batting for the first time with wicket-keeper batsman Matthew Wade (14), Finch ended up scoring 39 (26) with the help of four fours and a six.
Having once again got off to a start, Finch would have wanted to convert it into a match-century but it wasn’t to be as he became Rashid’s second dismissal. With bowling figures of 4-0-21-3, Rashid did his best to defend a 146-run target. Other than Finch, Rashid also dismissed Australia’s Glenn Maxwell (6) and Steve Smith (3).
It was Finch who won the toss and invited England in to bat at the toss. Every Australian bowling being among the wickets played a vital role in England scoring an unconvincing 145/6 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.
Having scored 55 (44) with the help of three fours and sixes each, England wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow was the pick of their batsmen as he registered his first T20I half-century as an opening batsman after more than 18 months.
