Union Minister claims India-Pakistan CT Final was fixed
Sport has the power to elevate you to the position of a hero and push you down in the dumps as well. When your profession is on display and is being viewed by millions of people around the world, every step of yours is bound to be scrutinised.
But does that give the liberty to people to question every stray incident, to label any and every silly mistake as ‘fixing’?
Union Minister, Ramadas Athawale has argued that the CT Final between India and Pakistan was fixed, as there can’t be any other reason for a bunch of high flying players to fail on the big day. Maybe Mr Athawale is unaware of the intricacies of sport and has never come across the word ‘pressure’.
“How could the cricketers, who played so well in the entire tournament, did not perform in the final match” said Athawale.
“It appears that the match was fixed and we demand an inquiry into it,” he added
While you would have felt that the atrocious comments would end there, he then went onto demand ‘reservation’ in all Indian sports teams.
“Those who did not perform should be rested and eligible cricketers from the Dalit community should be given a chance in the team,” Athawale said.
Athawale’s demands are obnoxious to the say the least and Ministers with such schools of thought shouldn’t be allowed to give public statements, as a lot of their followers could follow and preach the same line of thought, thereby demeaning our top athletes(for no reason) and taking Indian sports backwards in a big way.
