Rahul Chahar catch vs CSK: Mumbai Indians spinner grabs outstanding running catch off own bowling to dismiss Ambati Rayudu
Rahul Chahar catch vs CSK: Mumbai Indians’ spinner dismissed the opposition batsman at a crucial juncture tonight.
During the first match of the 13th season of the ongoing Indian Premier League between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in Abu Dhabi, Mumbai Indians spinner Rahul Chahar grabbed an outstanding catch off his own bowling to dismiss Chennai Super Kings batsman Ambati Rayudu.
It all happened on the last delivery of the 16th over when Rayudu appeared to fancy his chances against the rookie spinner. Needing 42 runs to win off 25 balls, Rayudu’s ploy of hitting a big shot against the leg-spinner saw him hitting the ball high into the air.
With Rayudu already getting dropped by all-rounder Krunal Pandya at point in the same over, Chahar called loudly to claim the catch himself. The 21-year old player ran backwards to cover quite a distance before completing the catch. While Chahar made the catch look simple, it required a significant amount of work on his part.

Rayudu, who came in to bat at No. 4 in the third over, stitched a potentially match-winning 115-run partnership alongside Faf du Plessis. In what was his fifth IPL half-century for Super Kings, Rayudu ended up scoring 71 (48) with the help of six fours and three sixes.
Earlier, it was CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni who won the toss and chose to field. With Saurabh Tiwary (42) top-scoring for Indians, the team put on board 162/9 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Chennai’s Lungi Ngidi was the pick of their bowlers with bowling figures of 4-0-38-3.
