‘Quality death bowling’: Yuvraj Singh eulogizes Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje death-over bowling vs Rajasthan Royals
Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje: The South Africa fast bowling-duo joined hands to guide their team to victory in IPL 2020.
During the 30th match of the ongoing 13th season of the Indian Premier League between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals in Dubai, Delhi Capitals beat Rajasthan Royals by 13 runs to regain their top of the table position on the back of sixth IPL 2020 victory.
Chasing a 162-run target, Royals got off to a brisk start on the back of scoring 50 runs in the powerplay despite losing wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler (22) and captain Steven Smith (1) in the process.
Opening the batting for the third time in the IPL, all-rounder Ben Stokes played well to score 41 (35) with the help of six fours. However, him and Sanju Samson (25) getting out in successive overs brought the opposition into the contest.
While the required run rate wasn’t a concern for Rajasthan, regular fall of wickets was hinting at hampering their chase. After batsman Robin Uthappa (32) was bowled by Capitals pacer Anrich Nortje (4-0-33-2), the onus was once again on all-rounder Rahul Tewatia (14*) who couldn’t seal another thumping chase in the slog overs.
Defending 29 runs in the last three overs, the South African duo of Nortje and Kagiso Rabada (4-0-28-1) gave away just seven runs in two overs to provide debutant pacer Tushar Deshpande (4-0-37-2) with a 22-run cushion in the last over.
Having restricted Rajasthan to 148/8 in 20 overs, Capitals’ bowlers registered a crucial victory. Apart from the pacers, Delhi spinners in Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel gave away a total of 49 runs and picked a wicket apiece.
