Chelsea want to sign Danny Drinkwater
Now that Nemanja Matic’s transfer to Manchester United has become official, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is already looking for a replacement.
Conte, who has publicly asked for the Chelsea board to back him in the transfer market, is looking to add another midfielder to his ranks.
The Itlalian was looking at Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Everton’s Ross Barkley as possible targets earlier this summer. While Barkley is up for sale, Arsenal have maintained that the Ox will not be sold this summer.

Conte has also asked Bayern Munich about the possibility of signing Renato Sanches on a loan deal, with the option of making it a permanent signing next year. Sanches was the breakout star of the Euros last summer, and is still considered to be one of the premier talents in Europe.
But now, reports are emerging that Chelsea have a new target to shore up their midfield. Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater has developed into one of the most reliable holding midfielders in the Premier league.
He was one of the unsung heroes of Leicester’s fairy tale title win two seasons ago, which also led to a first ever start for the English national team.
Drinkwater formed a brilliant partnership with N’golo Kante at Leicester, which could be another reason why Conte is very interested in the English midfielder.
While many people were surprised that Chelsea sold Matic to a rival, if Conte can get his hands on any of these English midfielders, then he would most certainly have the last laugh over Jose.
